Prototype Ashimar Keehar, C3 resin kit

Bought from e2046, this is a very well cast kit, hardly any seams (although I did find a few bubbles in really awkward places). Not sure what scale it is, I'm guessing at 1/220 (turns out it's non-scale). Due to it's small size it will be built clean (weathering would be hard to achieve to scale).

The first pic shows all the parts out of the bag, not a lot of clean up to do. After a couple of hours of sanding, and another 2 to scrub (with toothbrush) with degreaser and soak in wax remover, all parts are ready to prime and fill (pic 2). I followed the recommended colour charts to the letter, and then decided to do add my own extras to liven the colous up (fluor orange to the pale yellow/orange, and cobalt blue to the dark purple).

The tail piece was solid, with 2 support bars cast in. So I decided to hollow out the resin, by drilling and then carving/filing. I think it will look better in the final piece.

Test fitting is not too bad, although despite description this is not a full action kit!! I had to get the hairdryer onto the head and rifle to make fit/straighten out. I also hollowed out the rifle barrel from 1mm to approx 3mm depth using a small hasegawa chisel (pictured above).

Aaaargh................masking hell!
