Sturm Dias ver GA

I scored an old B-Club Sturm Dias conversion from ebay mid 2004, and although made for the earlier Rick Dias, I decided to use it on teh HGUC kit.

The only parts that will be used are the Sturm boosters themselves, the head piece is craptastic and the back rack is useless.

The boosters them selves will require a fair amount of work, it seems to be a common theme in older resin kits; warped parts with lots of flash and seam lines, not to mention appalling "greasy" (blue) resin.

Not content with just modding the kit so the boosters fit, I launced headlong into a full restyle.

  • The front skirts were elongating using expoxy putty on a styrene card skeleton, the "cod piece" was also enlarged using layers of styrene card.
  • The breast plate was reshaped usind styrene sheet and various putties to give a more inflated and rugged look (not fully sanded in these pics).
  • The knee armour was razor sawn off of the HGUC Xeku Eins kit in my bit box, the backs of these have been "greebled" with Kotobukiya MSG PE parts and Wave O-bolts.
  • The shoulder parts have been widened substantially
  • The molded cables on the forearms have been replaced with Max Factory Brass beads and electrical cable, wave O-Bolts have been inserted into the forearms themselves.
  • B-club resin manipulators.

Kotobukiya rocket launchers have been added to the legs.

The Hip armour has been extended using SSp-HG and styrene sheet

The rear skirt has also been extended as above.

The rear leg boosters are the ankle aromour from the MG Gelgoog, with Kotobukiya vents inside (molded to the shape of teh leg armour with epoxy putty)

The heels have been bulked out using layers of styrene sheet, with greebled inner ankles.

The standard guns have been replaced with Koto ones.

Koto O molds have been inserted into the elbows.

The Visor has been reshaped and extended using styrene sheet and SSP-hg

The rifle is a kotobukiya one (same series as the guns and launchers).

The pelvis has been widened and torso polycap replaced with yellow sub joint.

In this picture you can just about make out the greebles on teh ankle (parts from an MG zaku backpack and some cabling, O bolts)
